Elias Thorne

Master Woodworker & Artisan

With over 15 years of shaping raw timber into functional art, I specialize in bespoke, hand-joined furniture that breathes life into your living spaces. Every piece tells a story of sustainability, meticulous craftsmanship, and timeless design.

The Thorne Difference

Crafted with Intention

I don't just build furniture; I create future heirlooms. Here is what anchors my practice in every cut, joint, and finish.

Sustainable Timber

Sourcing exclusively from locally fallen trees and FSC-certified mills to ensure environmental harmony.

Heritage Joinery

Utilizing time-tested techniques like dovetails and mortise-and-tenon for unbreakable, screwless bonds.

Bespoke Design

Every curve and dimension is tailored to your body, your space, and your specific daily rituals.

How We Work

The Journey of a Piece

Commissioning custom furniture is a collaborative journey. Here is how we transform an idea into a tangible reality.

1

Consultation & Vision

We begin with a conversation. We discuss your space, your needs, aesthetic preferences, and budget. I'll share wood samples and we'll establish the overarching concept.

2

Design & 3D Modeling

I translate our discussion into detailed sketches and a digital 3D model. This allows you to visualize proportions and make adjustments before a single board is cut.

3

The Crafting Phase

Upon design approval, lumber is hand-selected. You'll receive photo updates as I mill, join, and shape the wood using traditional techniques in my workshop.

4

Finishing & Delivery

The piece is sanded to perfection and finished with protective natural oils. Finally, I personally deliver and install the piece in your home, ensuring it sits perfectly.

Client Voices

Words from the Wild

"Elias didn't just build us a dining table; he created the heart of our home. The attention to the grain direction and the seamless joinery is simply breathtaking. It's rare to find an artisan with such deep respect for his materials."

Sarah & James M.

Private Homeowners

"As an interior designer, I need partners who understand precision. The custom walnut credenza Elias built for my client's penthouse exceeded all expectations. His 3D models made the approval process incredibly smooth."

Elena Rostova

Principal, ER Interiors

"I commissioned a writing desk. I expected a piece of furniture, but I received a work of art. The tactile feel of the desk makes me want to sit down and work every single day. Worth every penny and every day of the wait."

Dr. Aris Thorne

Author & Academic

"We furnished our entire boutique hotel lobby with seating from Thorne Custom Woodcraft. The chairs have withstood heavy commercial use for two years now and still look exactly like they did on delivery day. Incredible durability."

Let's Talk

Commission a Piece

Have questions about the process or ready to start a project? Review the FAQs below or reach out directly.

Because I work on a commission basis and handle every step of the process personally, my current lead time is typically 12 to 16 weeks from the time of deposit and design approval. Rush orders are occasionally accommodated depending on the schedule.

Yes. While I personally deliver and install projects within a 150-mile radius of my workshop, I regularly ship pieces across the country using specialized white-glove art and furniture handlers to ensure safe arrival.

I primarily work with domestic hardwoods including Black Walnut, White Oak, Cherry, Ash, and Maple. I prioritize sustainably harvested timber and often source unique live-edge slabs from local arborists.

Commissions require a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your spot in the queue and purchase materials. The remaining 50%, plus any applicable shipping costs, is due upon completion and prior to delivery.
